Community Outreach Program 2014
The community outreach program is a way to give to the students that cannot afford regular traditional karate. In an effort to promote Shotokan karate to all level of the community the GTSS has implemented the program. With the possibility of Karate be part of the 2020 Olympics the GTSS will like to give the opportunity to more students. The once a week class will be open to new students only age 7 to 15 males and females. The class will be offer free of charge on Mondays. The class is open to student of Havertown and surrounded areas. All students must obey the rule of the studio.
The space is limited to 15 students. The space will be offer in the first come first serve bases. The classes will start on September 2, 2013.The schedule for the class will be Mondays from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Registration for the program will start on August 1, 2013.
All students that want to take advantage of this opportunity must join the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and purchases the white traditional karate uniform. This requirement has to be completed before the first class. The cost for the AAU is $16.00 annual membership and it cover from September 1 to August 31. The cost for the uniform is $22.99 for the regular size.
Student in the community program are eligible to participate in the belt test. The belt test fee must be paid by students before take the test. Belt test is every 3 months. The average cost of belt test is $45.00.
The GTSS has been serving the community thru programs in community centers and Buddhist temples in the area. This is the first time that the program is offer at the main school.
